Historic District of Whites Creek
Whites Creek, established in 1780, is one of the best examples of the architectural and historical significance of Middle Tennessee. Located in Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County, Whites Creek is home to miles of beautiful countryside and stretching farmlands coupled with architectural gems preserved through the generations. We take great pride in our community, and are working to restore these historical treasures to the glory that they once held.
Whites Creek's history is not only joyous, but also infamous. The notorious James Gang was well known in and around the Nashville are in the late 1800's, often visiting Whites Creek, and resting within it's borders. In fact, March of 1881 marked the beginning of the end of the infamous brotherhood when gang member Bill Ryan was arrested at the Earthman General Store in Whites Creek, leading to the gang once again packing up their belongings and hitting the trail. The Earthman General Store is only one of the historic locations in Whites Creek that are listed on the National Historic Registry, and was recently renovated and re-opened as restaurant & music venue The James Gang Company.
So, whether looking for some history, or just looking for an evening of great entertainment, Whites Creek has you covered. From Ri'Chard's Louisianna Cafe' to the grand Fontanel Mansion; from The James Gang Company to outdoor concerts at The Woods Amphitheatre, you may be surprised at what is waiting just around the bend in Historic Whites Creek!
